Description
Summary
The facility supervisor is responsible for the entire upkeep and maintenance of the equipment and facility. Their work requires executing their administrative and organizational skills for ensuring that all maintenance activities are seamlessly completed.
Essential Functions
- Conducting regular inspections and ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the facility.
- Ensuring the proper working of all electrical units and systems in the facility.
- Training and leading a team of subordinates and delegating work areas to them.
- Keeping a record of all dayto-day maintenance and service activities undertaken in the facility.
- Evaluating the performance of the subordinates.
- Complying with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and health administration rules (OSHA) while carrying out maintenance functions.
- Placing orders for spare parts, supplies and equipment for replacement and ascertaining the proper documentation of the same.
- Synchronizing work processes with other departments of the establishment.
- Recruiting maintenance personnel.
Responsibilities
- Communicates directly with the operations department to coordinate maintenance and repair work in production areas.
- Reviews the operation of production equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assists with planning and implementing building improvements and expansions.
- Implements programs and procedures required to ensure buildings cleanliness.
- Conducts employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technicians.
- Maintains and updates operating and training manuals for the maintenance department.
- Ensures that all maintenance technicians are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
- Monitors operation of building equipment and systems.
- Directs staff in maintaining and repairing maintenance shop equipment.
- Establishes and maintains a computerized maintenance management system in ERP software for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of business equipment.
- Analyzes processes and makes recommendations for improving production operations and solving maintenancerelated problems.
- Analyzes, researches and makes recommendations to purchase new, used or updated production equipment.
- Supervises maintenance personnel.
- Ensures that maintenance technicians are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and costeffective manner.
- Communicates regularly with all maintenance technicians, both individually and as a group, to ensure good twoway communication concerning maintenance issues.
- Assists with hiring of maintenance personnel.
- Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
- Directs, maintains, and enforces the safety program for the maintenance department; reviews safety records to uphold standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
- Participate in objective setting, plan development and performance review of production performance.
- Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment and initiates reordering when necessary.
- Perform hands on troubleshooting and repair of production equipment when necessary.
Qualifications
Education & Qualifications
- High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college.
- Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s degree or diploma in administration, personnel management or any other related field of study with 2 to 3 years of experience as a maintenance manager.
- Mechanical and/or technical background required
- Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to effectively manage time and lead a team of subordinates.
- Good organizational and administrative skills.
