As a Product Development Engineer, you’ll take products from concept to reality in our Marine Accessories, Boat Covers, and Storage Solutions division. You'll design, prototype, and refine products that push the boundaries of innovation. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with 2D and 3D geometric designs, building prototypes, and creating products that enhance the boating experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Create & Innovate – Draft product designs that align with customer and company specifications using 2D renderings and 3D CAD software.
- Refine & Improve – Adapt and enhance existing product designs to meet evolving specifications and applications.
- Build & Test – Construct prototypes and test them for reliability, making necessary adjustments to ensure top performance in marine environments.
- Develop & Document – Create precise sewing patterns, product specification drawings, and tech packs for accurate sample builds.
- Problem-Solve & Collaborate – Work closely with the engineering team to resolve production challenges and streamline manufacturing processes.
- Ensure Excellence – Conduct material selection and product testing to withstand marine conditions, including exposure to water, salt, and UV rays.
- Drive Innovation – Stay ahead of industry trends and suggest new ideas to enhance our product lineup.
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table:
- Creative & Analytical Mindset – Strong drafting, problem-solving, and visualization skills.
- Tech-Savvy Expertise – Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, CAD software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Marine Manufacturing Knowledge – Familiarity with materials, manufacturing processes, and product testing specific to the boating industry.
- Hands-On Experience – A portfolio showcasing your ID drawings and model-making skills.
- Team Player – Strong collaborative and relationship-building skills to work seamlessly across departments.
- Lean Manufacturing Know-How – Applied experience in lean production methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Product Design (or related field).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in product development or a related engineering role.
- Software Proficiency: Ability to quickly learn new design tools and programs.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with marine materials and production techniques such as waterproofing, UV resistance, and corrosion prevention.
