Outerknown is looking for a Store Manager to join the team in Malibu!

OVERVIEW

The Store Manager is responsible for ensuring positive customer experiences; overseeing the operational execution of the store; demonstrating the ability to meet individual sales and metric goals; driving profitable top-line sales growth and coaching store specialists to consistently provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience.

Amazing Store Managers are outgoing, engaging, and determined to achieve results.  At the same time, they prefer consistency and order, slow down enough to carefully evaluate information and trends, and focus on customers and associates. Genuine Store Managers give credit to their team when it’s due rather than take credit for themselves.

 A top performing Store Manager drives execution in the store through the coaching of sales specialists which results in profitable top-line sales growth.  A consistent and positive customer experience is coached and reinforced both on the sales floor and in the backroom.  The Store Manager understands the key business drivers and adjusts the business accordingly.  As the Store Manager of the first retail brand that was Fair Labor accredited, this person is passionate about sustainability, and fair labor standards, and cannot wait to share how Outerknown perpetuates daily the circular fashion economy of our product.  A Store Manager values that we are still writing our roadmap, and embraces opportunities to be innovative to create opportunities within their store, in their neighborhood, and across the brand to build the business and potential impact we have on our customers, people, and the environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Execute the following role and responsibilities in order to deliver a consistent, positive, customer experience and drive profitable top-line sales growth.

Sales and Team Leadership:

  • Building and managing a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability
  • Mentoring and coaching sales representatives to improve their performance and help them achieve their goal
  • Implement training programs for employees, identifying with a focus on different product launches and brand initiatives
  • Create sales strategies to achieve targets/goals.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with prospect/established customers and partners
  • Analyzing market trends and identifying new opportunities for growth
  • Review reports on sales performance and market trends
  • Collaborating with other departments, such as marketing and operations, to ensure company-wide alignment and success
  • Communicates clearly and effectively at all times with retail business partners, sharing the state of the business, updates on their team, ideas for consideration, opportunities, and successes.
  • Ensuring that the sales team is knowledgeable about the company's products and services and able to effectively communicate their value to customers
  • Setting goals, tracking progress, and holding sales representatives accountable for meeting objectives
  • Providing exceptional customer service, including responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and resolving issues in a timely manner
  • Embraces the opportunity to attend and/or initiate events outside the four walls of our stores to showcase the brand and either operate a short-lived pop-up shop or host an event like a beach cleanup
  • Train and communicate current collection knowledge: This will allow you to build trust, enhance customer experience, and increase sales.  Your team needs to be fully educated on product knowledge, and seasonal strategy all with a focus on sustainability.
  • Understand company set KPI's: You should clearly understand the company's set KPI's and be able to identify strategies when performance standards are not met. 
  • Responsible for creating a qualitative end-of-month report, including sales figures, product performance, and team performance.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies: You will be responsible for creating and executing recruitment strategies that will attract top talent to the company

 

 

Inventory and Operational Excellence:

  • Supervising inventory management: You will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels by overseeing all aspects of inventory control, such as regular cycle counting, monitoring stock movements and executing inventory audits.
  • Developing operational strategies: You will use your expert knowledge in operations to help develop efficient processes and procedures that increase productivity, minimize waste and reduce costs
  • Leading and mentoring team members: You will lead and motivate the team of ensuring that they are well trained and equipped to carry out their tasks effectively
  • Ensuring safety and compliance: You will maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and procedures
  • Analyzing product data: You will use data analysis tools to identify trends, patterns and customer demand to make informed business decisions that improve inventory management and operations efficiency.

 

Networking and Experiences:

  • Encourage the team to attend local networking events and build relationships with potential clients. This will help to establish a positive reputation for the company and increase word-of-mouth referrals.
  • Implement a customer service training program for the team that focuses on creating a personalized and memorable experience for customers with a focus on sustainability and our core values.
  • Implement events that are brand aligned that focus on the client/community
  • Lead your team to consistently establish client relationships, execute unrivaled customer service, and grow your business through effective client outreach.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of (5) five years of specialty, luxury goods, or a comparable retail environment. Prior sales management experience
  • Proven ability to drive sales results, able to analyze selling reports, identify business trends, and react quickly to the needs of the business
  • Skilled at delivering thoughtful and appropriate positive and developmental feedback
  • Seeks feedback from business partners and cultivates an environment that encourages open conversation around opportunities to personally develop
  • Genuinely values a circular fashion economy, sustainability, and the importance of fair labor standards.
  • Comfort in making decisions and mediating conflict within a team environment
  • Ability to address complex issues and allocate time to execute multiple tasks and change priorities
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to identify top talent and train/develop/retain great people
  • Experience creating schedules and managing time & attendance
  • Proficient in Windows-based software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook as well as Google-based software such as Sheets, Slides, and Docs.
  • Experience opening a store from the ground up is a plus!

 

PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Ability to work a flex schedule (which includes nights, weekends, and holiday availability)
  • Ability to lift at least 20 lbs 
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods at a time 

 

This position will be based at the Outerknown store in Malibu, CA.
