What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer position at Outform Group?
The Design Engineer transforms visualized concepts into manufacturing-ready drawings and provides essential knowledge for manufacturing materials, processes and cost. They are involved in checking prototypes and first articles, and presenting them to clients as appropriate. Traveling to suppliers or clients may be required, as needed. The Design Engineer is also responsible for meeting project deadlines, working with their colleagues to design displays that can be built using appropriate materials and cost.
Responsibilities
- Assesses information provided by the Client, Sales / Account Management and Project Manager and translates it in to engineered design solutions, considering visual and structural integrity and cost effective manufacturability and assembly.
- Takes approved visuals / concepts and produces prototype and manufacturing drawing projects in the form of complete drawing packs with bill of materials. All projects should be designed to suit manufacturing processes and appropriate materials.
- Understands & Considers assembly, customer interaction, and safety guidelines is essential.
- Meets agreed upon deadlines.
- Works closely with Production department colleagues to ensure the right solutions to the right supply chain are being met.
- Works with DPM / PPM in the assembly and inspection of prototypes.
- Visits factories as needed to verify display construction, specifications and quality.
- Ensures project documentation adheres to company defined processes - detailed parts lists, QC guidelines, Technical Specification.
