Content Summary : Senior Director for Development & Camp; Communications at Columbia, for outh Carolina United Methodist ConferenceSenior Director for Development & Communications The Senior Director of Development provides strategic leadership in financial development to advance Epworth’s mission through annual giving, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests, gifts, and capital campaigns.Primary Performance ObjectivesCoordinate with all Epworth stakeholders to plan and execute a comprehensive development strategy that strengthens donor and public relations to increase philanthropic funding and support from individuals, congregations, corporate, and government sources.Increase community support and revenue through personal relationships and marketing strategies that spark engagement in the life of the Epworth community.Ensure the integrity, quality, confidentiality, and effectiveness of all print material and public relations outlets.Deepen relationships with the SC Conference of the United Methodist Church to invoke a level of ownership and baptismal obligation toward the clients served.Ensure the common forward direction of the overall strategic plan for the organization.Job Task SummaryMake presentations to churches and organizations to elicit deeper involvement in Epworth as donors and volunteers.Maintain honest and transformative relationships with individuals, congregations, media, corporate sponsors, private foundations, and government sponsors by expanding the web of reach through those on staff and through volunteers.Oversight of capital campaigns and major gifts.Design and / or coordinate the development of communication materials that accurately depict outcomes and success stories in a way that maintains brand equity.Facilitate the rapid and accurate acknowledgment of gifts.Oversee the maintenance of data to ensure integrity and adherence to the Donor Bill of Rights.Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned.Understand and follow personnel policies and practices as outlined in the ECH Staff Manual and / or department manuals, in compliance with the SCDSS group home regulations, and those outlined in the Fixed Price Bid Contract with the South Carolina Department of Social Services, and the C.A.R.E. practice model.This description is not all-inclusive. Additional duties may be assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities : Direct supervisor for the following positions : Communication SpecialistVolunteer CoordinatorData Entry SpecialistGrant WriterQualifications : Bachelor’s degree plus five years of progressive experience in funds development and marketing.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Effective public speaking presence with experience in speaking to large groups and / or media.Must be proficient with various software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic communication. Ability to quickly learn any required database system, including Raiser’s Edge.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.Must be able to pass standard background checks, including drug screening, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.Must have a belief system and engage in faith practices compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.Personal Attributes and Skills : A proven ability to work positively and professionally with diverse groups of individuals.Ability to address interpersonal barriers and strengths in staff while empowering them.High level of creativity.Understands and respects the necessity for confidentiality.Organized with attention to detail.The job is located in Columbia, SC.
