Role:
The City Manager is ultimately responsible for the operations and sustainability of the OutLoud Sports city that they oversee. This position works hand in hand with a liaison from OutLoud Sports LLC to determine which sports and activities to facilitate throughout the year, is typically a main point of contact for facility permits, works with local sponsors and partners for the league, and helps oversee and advise any league managers within the city.
Direct responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Securing facility permits for sport leagues and events and working with OLS LLC to facilitate payment and insurance certificates*
- Ensuring leagues are properly created in our third-part league management software system (LeagueApps) before they open and monitoring registrations
- Ensuring league schedules are published in LeagueApps and any other platform the city may choose to use (e.g. Google sheets)*
- Inventorying sport equipment and submitting equipment requests to OutLoud Sports LLC when necessary*
- Ordering medals and/or trophies for sport seasons*
- Sending out weekly league emails while sports are in-season*
- Recruiting and retaining league members (in conjunction with league managers if applicable)
- Working with OLS LCC on any participant conduct issues
- Ensuring league managers (where applicable) are executing their responsibilities and upholding OutLoud Sports mission and values
- Working to secure sponsorships for leagues and activities when applicable
- Maintaining positive working relationships with league partners, sponsors, and rental facilitate *
- Meeting periodically with their OutLoud Sports LLC liaison
- Attending the annual OutLoud Sports (virtual) Town Hall event
- Informing league participants of regional or national OutLoud Sports tournaments and encouraging participation
*If League Managers exist for a sport, these responsibilities may directly fall on the League Manager but the City Manager should still ensure they are being completed appropriately and timely
Interested candidates in becoming an OutLoud Sports City Manager should posses the following qualifications:
- Passionate about building community among LGBTQIA folks within their city/region
- Knowledge and excitement for sport and recreation programming
- Time to dedicate to this role which varies based on the size of the city, number of sports, and time of year but is estimated at 5-10 hours per week
- Comfortable reaching out to individuals and business to promote and market OutLoud Sports
- Ability to work with and mentor league managers, when applicable
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes
Compensation
- This is a paid position in which the City Manager will receive a percentage of the net profit from each sport league/activity upon its successful completion
