TITLE: Center Store Journeyperson DEPARTMENT: Center Store
STATUS: PT/FT, Journeyperson, Union, Hourly REPORTS TO: Center Store Manager
JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the highest level of service possible to Outpost’s internal and external customers. Order product to maintain a fully stocked store. Ensure a well maintained, clean and efficient center store department.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced retail floor. Regular work near moving mechanical parts (i.e. baler, dock equipment), in high precarious places (i.e. ladder work), and in cold climate conditions (i.e. dairy cooler, freezer). Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: paging, telephones, human voices, and machinery. Position requires working during busy retail times, which include weekends, afternoons, and evenings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1. Customer Service
Treat people fairly, consistently, and with respect.
Ensure efficient, informative, and friendly service according to established customer service vision and standards.
2. Center Store Department Responsibilities
Department Operations
Ensure professional and friendly service from all grocery staff.
Handle customer questions and complaints.
Be knowledgeable of products and stay up-to-date on industry trends.
Order product to ensure department is fully stocked, while keeping inventory to minimum.
Ensure deliveries are checked in and stocked in timely manner.
Ensure proper handling of perishable product to ensure a safe and quality product.
Ensure department aisles, coolers, and backstock areas are kept neat and clean.
Maintain an organized layout of back stock areas.
Assist with product returns and obtain credit from vendors. Notify manager of discrepancies.
Advise Department Manager of equipment repair/replacement needs.
Ensure all department display areas are properly fronted and faced.
Ensure proper shelf tags and sale signs are on shelves and displays.
Request signs from pricing as needed.
Set up and maintain endcaps and shippers.
Assist with shelf resets and quarterly inventory.
Attend department meetings as scheduled.
Perform all duties included in department clerk job descriptions.
Personnel
Delegate duties to staff and ensure they are always busy.
Positively encourage department staff to excel at their job.
Replace vacant shifts when call ins, etc. occur. Notify manager of these occurrences.
Assist in training department staff.
Assist department staff in following department standard operating procedures.
3. All Staff Duties
Abide by all Co-op policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and other company documents.
Keep store orderly and clean.
Maintain a positive attitude.
Perform all other duties as assigned by Department Manager or supervisory staff.

Outstanding customer service
Previous experience with stocking, ordering, and receiving in a retail setting
Ability to work in cold climate on regular basis (coolers range from -25°F – 20°F)
Ability to appropriately delegate work duties and motivate staff

Ability to handle multiple demands and work under time pressures
Willingness to be open, to learn, and take on new responsibilities
Demonstrate objectivity, neutrality and calmness under pressure
Regular, predictable attendance

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing, walking, bending, sitting, reaching
Using hands or fingers to handle or feel
Specific vision ability: close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and adjust focus
Ability to climb up and down ladders
Regular use of sharp cutting instruments
Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
