Position Summary
The YouthLink Triage Specialist will collaborate across a coordinated system of Indianapolis homeless youth-serving organizations to effectively identify and link youth and young adults that need support throughout the city. This position is responsible for responding to the call/text line, providing scheduling and referrals based on initial screening of youth and young adults, and engaging in administrative and data entry tasks to support the team.
Position Duties & Responsibilities

- Use strengths-based approaches to meet youth and young adults where they are as they navigate housing instability.
- Connect clients to external resources, such as partner programming, job fairs, and applications to housing solutions outside the coordinated entry system.
- Act as a communication liaison to youth and young adults for the YouthLink team, including fielding incoming calls and text messages to the YouthLink hotline, sharing updates on case management, and general inquiries.
- Assess, refer, and schedule appointments with either the YouthLink Navigation Team or the YouthLink Homelessness Diversion Team per eligibility criteria.
- Manage and maintain inbound referral and waitlist procedures through other Outreach programs, findhelp.org, and other community partners.
- Support YouthLink team in obtaining and organizing vital documents for YouthLink clients.
- Attend and participate in community trainings related to available community resources, youth choice, trauma-informed care, diversity and inclusion, assessment, and technology systems.
- Assist in other administrative duties as needed to support the YouthLink team.
Outreach Staff Responsibilities
- Attend staff and department meetings, team trainings, 1-1 supervision with Program Manager
- Participate in team and individual evaluations
- Participate in fundraiser and youth celebration events and other programs which further Outreach’s mission
- Attend local conferences and workshops that relate to homelessness

Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an office environment with the opportunity to work remotely periodically. The individual is expected to maintain personal/professional competency and works to create an environment of courtesy, respect, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude in all interactions both internal and external to the organization.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time hourly position and requires the ability to be flexible in your day-to-day work schedule including occasional evenings and weekends, for a total of 25 hours a week.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 2 years’ experience working with youth and young adults preferred
- Personal experience navigating homelessness and/or social service systems preferred
- High School Diploma; some post-secondary education related to human services is a plus
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must pass a criminal background check in accordance with Outreach’s operating protocol.

$18-20 per hour with paid holidays, vacation, sick time, and quarterly Spiritual Formation Days. No other benefits available.
