What is Outset?
Outset (joinoutset.com) is an overnight academic summer camp at UNC-Chapel Hill. Outset is for 9th-12th grade high schoolers with a strong interest in medical careers. Outset’s mission is to help students interested in healthcare explore (1) what it takes to become a physician (the medical education path) and (2) what being a physician is like (the career itself).
What does the Assistant Director do?
Our Assistant Director lives in the dorm with students for all our summer programs and helps our Camp Director with every aspect of camp management. The role often involves: assisting with medication, managing program staff (college students), leading evening activities, checking on sick campers, etc.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a person with at least 3-5 years work experience who is passionate about camp, teaching, mentorship and program operations. We need an Assistant Director who is energetic and ready to roll up their sleeves and help out on whatever it takes to make the camp experience amazing for our students.
Required availability
Camp starts June 8 and ends July 25 (7 weeks)
Each week, camp is active non-stop from Sunday at 2pm to Friday at 4pm. In this period, you would need to stay in the dorm with students.
You will have one evening off each week (usually Monday)
Compensation & Benefits:
15 meals during camp sessions are included
Single room in dorms included
Pay is $1500 per week, including programs and one extra week of pay for training/prep
