Outside In seeks a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to join our School-Based Health Center team at Milwaukie High School, serving youth ages 5-21 within the North Clackamas School District.
The SBHC Lead MA II plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting clinic operations, making a tangible difference in the lives of students and the broader community. The position involves a range of clinical, administrative, and general duties within the standard scope of practice. It requires working independently and collaboratively within a focused and supportive team, making it ideal for someone with strong skills who can effectively manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to shifting demands.
As the sole Medical Assistant onsite, this position requires a proactive approach to managing patient care and clinic tasks and the ability to quickly assess and resolve challenges as they arise. Duties are carried out in a dynamic, youth-centered environment underpinned by close collaboration and mutual support across the clinic team. Proficiency in more complex clinic functions, such as vaccine and lab coordination, and the ability to prioritize tasks directly impacting patient flow and overall clinic efficiency are essential.
This is a full-time, union-represented, hourly position with a starting range of $26.08 to $28.79 per hour, based on experience and skills. This position reports to the School-Based Health Center Manager and is a member of the School-Based Health Center Team.

What You Will Do:
- Scrub patient charts ahead of appointments to ensure accuracy and readiness, verifying vaccine history, medication lists, and other pertinent health information.
- Obtain and document patient history, vital signs, and other established screening procedures in Epic electronic medical record.
- Assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments as directed by the on-site medical provider.
- Prepare and administer medications, injections, and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
- Perform phlebotomy point of care testing as directed by medical provider.
- Treat all patients with compassion and empathy.
- Act as the SuperUser for the Vaccines for Children program and maintain ALERT IIS records.
- Coordinate with Outside In's Vaccine Program Manager to maintain compliance with VFC requirements and meet SBHC vaccine-related needs.
- Provide on-site support for the lab by monitoring activities and needs, and collaborating with Outside In’s Lab Supervisor to ensure equipment is well-maintained.
- Communicate inventory and equipment needs to SBHC Manager and Lab supports.
- Perform basic administrative medical assisting functions.
- Collaborate with the front desk staff to support efficient patient scheduling workflows.
- Develop and maintain the MA binder, document workflows, and manage SBHC Medical Assistant OneNote.

Required Qualifications:
Must have either an AAMA or CCMA certification

Working Conditions:
This job is located in a standard medical office environment, embedded in a school. Ability to travel may be needed to support other agency clinics and teams in downtown and East Portland.
