This exciting position puts you – literally and figuratively – at the heart of Colorado’s leading mountain-oriented media business. As a key contributor to Outside TV’s Denver and Summit County broadcast operations, you will be creating outdoor news content for our Silverthorne station and throughout the Denver DMA with MTN TV, our Denver broadcast partner.

The primary purpose of this position is the production and post-production of video content for Outside’s broadcast television operations in the Denver/Summit County corridor. You will produce, schedule, shoot, and edit a variety of segments as well as live reports and interviews from locations around the region. You will also be responsible for daily production tasks related to the delivery, storage, and social distribution of the operation’s video assets.

Key Objectives:

• Create compelling, technically proficient video content that increases viewer engagement and sponsor interest.
• Source outdoor-specific news stories that are notable for their timeliness and insider understanding of Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle, businesses, athletes, and emerging trends.
• Develop strong relationships and networks across Summit County that create a steady flow of business, sources, and audience.
• Work daily with MTN TV to provide live shots, coverage, and content for MTN Mornings, The Vibe, and other programs.

Core Responsibilities:

• Ideate, schedule, shoot, host, and edit 4-6 taped segments per week, with 3-4 days typically spent in the field at ski resorts, outdoor venues, and local businesses in the I-70 corridor with a focus on Summit County.
• Contribute to MTN TV’s weekly live morning show as the Summit County host and multimedia journalist.
• Shoot and produce custom content and commercials on an as-needed basis, working closely with your manager and clients to deliver against advertising commitments.
• Manage the station’s social media efforts, including the creation and posting of clips to YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram for Outside and MTN TV.
• Perform routine technical tasks associated with encoding and managing the content for web purposes as well as broadcast. This includes setting up your own live shots with a LiveU pack or cell phone, using web-based broadcast tools to record interviews, and utilizing file transfer solutions.
• Maintain camera, audio, and lighting equipment while in the studio and in the field.
• Contribute occasionally to video projects that support the larger Outside Entertainment and Outside Inc. teams, potentially including editorial videos, custom sales projects, and corporate shoots.

Requirements: 

• 3 years of experience in broadcast TV production, behind and in front of the camera
• Demonstrable proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro or equivalent editing software
• Demonstrable proficiency with video camera operations and recording high quality content
• A degree specific to Film, Journalism, or Communications is strongly preferred

Skills/Abilities  

• Strong understanding and experience with all phases of video creation including: pre-production, production, post production & delivery.
• The ability to recognize and tell compelling stories in all video formats, including long form, short form, digital, social.
• Strong organizational skills
• Video Editing (Premier)
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite including After Effects and Premiere Pro
• Advanced knowledge of project workflows and other creative cloud applications.
• Working knowledge of a MAM preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication ability
• Strong familiarity with the outdoor adventure genre of content and the kinds of stories, stars, and themes that resonates with outdoor sports enthusiasts
• A personal passion for adventure and participation in outdoor activities is desirable.

Work Environment

The ability to work independently in the field and with a wide array of story participants, clients, community leaders and television station leadership, create on a daily basis, hit deadlines, and manage multiple projects in different phases.

Denver Colorado location: Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $45,000 to $55,000. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, Flexible Time Away, sick leave, and more. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant's location, market data/ranges, an applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
