Outsource Consultants is seeking for a Code and Zoning Analyst to join our New York City Team!

We offer hybrid in-office and remote work after 1 year of full-time employment.

 

As a Code and Zoning Analyst, you will perform zoning analysis and building code compliance reviews, and successfully develop and manage the resolution of variances or interpretation requests from city agencies.

 

Job functions include:

 

  • Perform code and zoning analysis and prepare comprehensive, detailed & professional communications with internal staff and external clients.
  • Scope new projects, analyze and resolve objections.
  • Prepare arguments for code and zoning determinations.
  • Review plans/drawings and assist in preparation of processing forms and filings.
  • Meet with DOB commissioners.
  • Arrange DOB meetings in person and by correspondence.
  • Attend meetings in person at agencies.
  • Participate in meetings electronically and in person
  • Manage client communication related to your projects: follow up on city executive staff appointments requests , submission status, and dissemination of updates provided by the agencies.
  • Provide support for filings to Project Managers, and staff.
  • Keep abreast of new updates in code/zoning bulletins and trends in the industry.
  • Provide proper management of project budgets and deadlines and ensure that billing is recorded on a daily basis.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • 5-10 years past experience working for a Construction, Architectural or Engineering firm, and/or field experience as an expeditor at the NYC Department of Buildings.
  • Professional Degree in Architecture, Construction Administration, City Planning, or similar preferred.
  • Valid licensure or registration in good standing preferred but not required ( Registered Architect or Professional Engineer).
  • Working knowledge of the DOB’s system and procedures, as well as other relevant City agencies.  Must have a full understanding of how all agencies work (DOB, DOT, FDNY, DEP, Landmarks, etc.).
  • Must have the ability to research case law to support code and zoning analysis.
  • Must be proficient in all DOB filings and compliance with NYC Zoning Resolution, Building Codes (Prior to 68, 1968, 2008, 2014 and current 2022), NYC Fire Code, Multiple Dwelling Law, 2016 NYCECC.
  • Superior knowledge of code accessibility requirements and DOJ 2010 ADA Standards.
  • Working knowledge of the New York State and New Jersey Building Codes – IBC, IRC, IEBC.
  • Comfortable interacting with design professionals and high-level DOB/DOT and FDNY personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and follow-up skills are essential. Exceptional customer service disposition, trustworthy and dependable.
  • Able to research and consult on a wide range of project types and on multiple projects.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and a willingness to mentor and train staff.

Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
