Seeking a Fellow Engineer / Structural Analyst to provide support to our federal government client in Aiken, SC .

Requirements:
The Contractor will provide the following duties:
- Apply technical experience in eld of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical elds, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
- Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and dicult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
- Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
- Develop solutions to complex technical problems in elds of expertise.
- Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in the area of expertise in the external world.
- Be aware of the capabilities of the work group and the needs of its customers.
- Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
- Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identied by management.
- Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of the budget, and review the quality of work performed.
- Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
- Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
- Prepare reports for external publication.
Specific Duties
- Provide advanced analysis and design of all types of buildings and structures for normal and accident loading conditions. Advanced structural analytical capabilities include dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history), generation of in-structure seismic response spectra, tornado winds, missile penetration, and precipitation (rain, ood, snow).
- Engineering services shall be provided using the client processes and procedures. Programmatic guidance will be provided.
Work Hours: Up to a 40-hour work week is scheduled. The client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; ve days per week), 4/10 s (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80 s (9 hours/day, ve days on week AA and four days on week BB. Work week excludes the client holidays. Each workday has a 30-minute lunch. Over time will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager. The anticipated work schedule is 6:00 am to 5:15 pm.
Area Security Access: Candidate must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance. Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance ( L or Q ) within the past two years are preferred.
Qualifications:
Considered an internal expert in the area of expertise. Contributes to advancing knowledge in eld of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations. Can solve complex problems in the eld.
- Must have 8 years of recent experience in the design and analysis of NRC or DOE-regulated nuclear facilities
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, Criteria
- Experience in analysis for structural response to the explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration)
- Working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS or ABAQUS or similar computer codes
- Working knowledge of National Codes and Standards; specifically, IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, & N690), ACI (318 & 349) and ASCE (4, 7 & 43.)
- Ability to perform field walk-downs to document as-installed conditions
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance
- An advanced Civil Engineering degree and relevant experience, a Ph.D. degree and about 10 years' experience. OR A MS degree and 12 years' experience. OR A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience
PREFERRED
- Current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering
- Experience in analysis for structural response to explosion (blast/detonation and deagration)
- Experience with DOE natural phenomena hazard (NPH), Standard 1020, criteria
- Previous SRS experience
