Outten & Golden is seeking an entrepreneurial Business Development Manager to collaborate with attorneys to drive growth and enhance the Firm’s reputation as a national leader in employment law for workers, professionals, and executives. Reporting to the Director of Business Development and Communications, the Business Development Manager will develop and execute on business plans that leverage a wide range of tactics, including paid and organic search, paid and organic social, email marketing, public relations, and content marketing. The person in this role will be expected to be physically present in the Firm’s New York office at least two days per week.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as a business leader for one or more of the Firm’s core practice areas as directed by the Director of Business Development.
- Develop and implement marketing and business development plans for assigned practice areas based on a strong understanding of the Firm’s clients, cases, investigations and capabilities, as well as the underlying legal issues that affect employees.
- Act as an advisor and advocate for attorneys in each practice area, drawing on the Firm’s larger business development, public relations, advertising, communications, and client-intake functions to provide effective practice support.
- Collaborate with the Firm’s Senior Content Strategist to convert attorney perspectives into employee-focused marketing communications, including blog posts, articles, surveys, and opinions.
- Maintain each assigned practice group’s content calendar, ensuring the timely execution of deliverables.

Develop, write, and maintain practice group materials, including representative matter lists, attorney biographies, articles, client testimonials, and related practice webpages.
- Collaborate with the Firm’s public relations team to synthesize practice news and insights into earned and owned media opportunities.
- Support practice growth by identifying and securing attorney participation in industry conferences, bar association conferences, and nonprofit events.
- Manage digital marketing campaigns for the Firm’s docket of employment cases and class action investigations, working closely with internal and external resources to implement paid and organic search, paid and organic social, LinkedIn direct message campaigns, and other tactics. Track and analyze KPIs in order to make informed decisions that advance each campaign’s goals.
- Enhance the Firm’s development of cases and investigations by collaborating with the business development and data solutions teams to provide company, industry and issue specific business intelligence research.
- Proactively assume other duties as necessary, managing a range of other as-needed projects including the maintenance of client marketing lists, assistance with marketing technology projects, report generation, content writing and editing, award and directory submissions, and other tasks that support practice growth and the delivery of exceptional service to Firm clients.
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: You have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a professional services organization navigating multiple business functions while balancing the needs of various internal stakeholders. A strong understanding of the business and practice of law, labor and employment laws, and related workplace issues is preferred. A firm grasp of performance marketing fundamentals is also a plus.
- Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: You possess exemplary written communication skills, including the ability to generate ideas, proofread and edit, and ultimately direct the production of content that would appeal to a wide variety of audiences. You express yourself clearly and concisely, always highlighting the most important information. You proactively communicate the status of your work to relevant stakeholders. You ensure that your work is mistake-free.
- Confidentiality: You must be able to adhere to Firm policies regarding the protection of confidential data and demonstrate sensitivity to (and good judgment in connection with) confidential attorney, personnel, and Firm matters.
- Flexibility and Organization: You are versatile and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities. You are comfortable in an environment where your responsibilities may vary from day to day. You demonstrate a “no job too big, no job too small” attitude, and take a collaborative, team-focused approach to rejuggling priorities and contributing to Firm tasks. You are comfortable balancing tasks of varying levels of urgency and complexity and work well under pressure with tight deadlines. Availability to work after hours, as needed (e.g., to assist with complex e-filings) is required.

You proactively anticipate, communicate, and work to independently resolve obstacles you encounter in your work. You possess a strong client- service orientation and ability to work well individually and as part of a team.
- Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation: An attractive compensation package (tailored to experience), with a target base compensation range of $130,000 - $155,000 per year (exempt). Outten & Golden also offers our employees a robust benefits package including healthcare benefits.
