Overlake Golf & Country Club (OGCC) was originally established in 1927 on this beautiful site in the hidden neighborhood of Medina, Washington. It has evolved over the years into a family country club with modern values and has become a place where the members gather to enjoy dining, social activities, golf, tennis and aquatics with family, friends, and business associates. We are known as the premier family club in the Pacific Northwest, and we take great pride in our unrivaled hospitality, our commitment to environmental stewardship, and in developing our staff.

Position Description

Overlake Athletics Camp is a weekly camp program that runs for 9 weeks starting in mid-June and ending in late August. Each session, campers enjoy a themed week of activities, crafts, and games, group swim and racquet sports lessons, and an off-site field trip to attractions around the Puget Sound area.

The Head Camp Counselor is responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of the summer program, including activity planning, staff training and supervision, and oversight of day-to-day camp operations.

Availability

Preference Given to Head Counselors available for 6 or more weeks of the camp season.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Supervise and mentor camp staff, including conducting performance evaluations and providing coaching and support.
  • Plan, organize, and lead camp activities, ensuring they align with the camp's mission and goals.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, including responding to emergencies and enforcing camp rules.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive camp community, promoting teamwork and respect among campers and staff.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of camp programs and special events.
  • Communicate regularly with campers' parents about their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of camper and staff activities, incidents, and evaluations.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay informed and prepared for camp operations.

Qualification And Education Requirements

  • Relevant experience working with youth or in leadership positions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity or experience with private club culture, practices, and environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to acquire before starting camp.
  • A positive attitude and a passion for working with children.
  • Ability to problem solve on the spot and take ownership for problem resolution.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy in all dealings.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
