Job Summary
Overland Ready Mixed is looking for a high performing, results-oriented Quality Control & Assurance Inspector to join our team! This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of Quality Control and Assurance functions, which may include routine tests on raw materials, in process set up and the final product. Must participate in validation of tests, inspections, production methods and material qualifications as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Ensures that the proper concrete mix has been produced according to the order.
Performs slump, air content, yield tests, and cast concrete strength specimens according to ASTM Standards when necessary. Makes appropriate field adjustments to assure that the delivered product meets customer expectations.
Visually checks concrete batches as needed for obvious batching errors. Inspect concrete products to determine whether the product meets the specifications of the contractor, and report variances to appropriate personnel.
Communicates with Plant personnel regarding the handling and condition of materials and with Central Dispatch regarding jobsite conditions, concrete performance, and customer concerns.
Assists in the material sampling for Nebraska Department of Transportation projects.
Follows quality control plans and communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities to assure consistency with company standards and customer specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and
- previous experience in a construction &/or construction products related field with working knowledge of concrete production, handling and/or testing; or
- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- ACI Level 1 certification or ability to be trained at this level and be able to complete training and certification process within 6 months of employment/transfer.
Computer Skills:
Must have knowledge of Microsoft systems and department manufacturing software.
Must be able and willing to submit field reports using a company provided mobile tablet. Read and reply to company emails. And access mix design submittals on the company hard drive.
Other Qualifications:
- Employee must have a demonstrated strength in assuring attention to detail.
- Must be able to develop a good working knowledge of concrete mixes.
- Able to read and comprehend documents such as detailed prints, safety rules, operating and quality assurance guidelines, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to read and comprehend load tickets, SDS sheets, Mix Design Submittals, and the company safety manual.
- Must have strong math skills with an ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals with ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season, including late or irregular hours and occasional Saturdays. Consistent and reliable attendance required.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and to climb up and down ladders.

- Must be able to communicate professionally and tactfully, with all levels, across all departments and customers.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate with employees in the organization and contractors in the field.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
