An Overshine Wine Company Hospitality Manager is a dynamic, hospitality-focused, and strategic-thinking leader with excellent communication and organizational skills. The Hospitality Manager will lead their team to achieve best-in-class customer experiences while retaining membership and achieving financial goals. This role is responsible for optimizing member and guest experiences, driving retail sales, staff development, increasing traffic, and growing club memberships. This position reports directly to the DTC Director of Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with key community partners, vintners' associations, and develop strategic inter-winery partnerships; track and prioritize outreach efforts.
- Develop and execute tasting room promotions, marketing collaborations, and guest engagement strategies to increase foot traffic and sales.
- Track and deliver daily/monthly/annual metrics to the senior leadership team, including membership acquisition, retention rates, sales volume, and KPI goals.
- Work closely with the Director of Operations and other Co-Managers to exceed sales and membership targets.
- Lead by example to foster a culture of continuous improvement through innovative problem-solving, team development, and positive leadership behaviors.
- Ensure the tasting room team exceeds customer service expectations while maintaining motivation to achieve goals and celebrating key milestones.
- Support direct reports in professional development, providing ongoing coaching and skill-building opportunities.
- Oversee the completion of all daily opening and closing checklists, as well as daily, weekly, and monthly side work tasks.
- Implement and track success factors such as total signups, subscription win rates, net sales, and average order value, conducting monthly reviews to push for continuous improvement.
- Understand, uphold, and train employees on the Overshine Wine Company Core Values.
- Act as a key decision-maker in resolving guest concerns, operational challenges, and unexpected situations with professionalism and efficiency.
- Work collaboratively across departments to align trade relations, VIP services, and special events with overall hospitality goals.
- Serve as the primary host for trade hospitality appointments, including distributor visits and on/off-premise account visits.
- Partner with the Director of Operations and business analysts to track, process, and update wine club and sales commissions.
- Manage inventory levels for the tasting room and wine club pickup locations, ensuring accurate tracking and timely restocking to optimize sales.
- Collaborate with the finance team to analyze sales trends and optimize pricing strategies.
- Accurately track and approve employee hours, ensuring compliance with California labor laws, including proper rest and meal periods, and submit finalized timecards at the end of each pay period.
- Aggregate and analyze customer feedback and sales data to provide meaningful insights to the senior leadership team.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Strong wine knowledge with the ability to independently execute consumer experiences, tours, VIP tastings, and trade tastings at an expert level.
- Ability to repeatedly stoop, lift, and carry 40 lb. cases of wine.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Experience with cash handling and retail operations.
- Proven commitment to excellence in hospitality and customer service.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or a wine-related technical degree preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hospitality-related experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of hospitality management experience required.
Work Environment:
The tasting room is a non-smoking work environment. To maintain an optimal tasting atmosphere, team members should avoid strong fragrances such as heavy perfumes, lotions, or hair products that could interfere with the sensory aspects of wine tasting.
This position may require standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment.
