What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Human Resources position at Overton Hotel and Conference Center?
Summary: This position will direct all areas of Human Resources including payroll, recruiting, associate services, associate benefits, associate development/training, workers compensation reporting, and management support. Enforcement of company, Federal, and State policies and reporting.
Responsibilities:
Planning and execution of associate events planned by the Human Resources Department.
Develop an associate communications network within the hotel, via bulletin boards, department communication, boards, posters, social media, newsletter, and flyers.
Act as a liaison for all associates.
Manage associate issues on a timely basis following counseling and disciplinary procedures.
Maintain attendance and payroll records and communicate deficiencies to the Executive team.
Maintain all applicant records and personnel files, including the benefit and confidential files.
Respond to HR related inquiries from employees, management, and applicants
Benefits Administration, advanced knowledge and understanding of FMLA, ADA, and LOA law.
Conduct Insurance Benefit and Retirement meetings
Ensures the Leave of Absence Policy is adhered to, tracked, and departments and associates follow the correct documentation and action.
Develop and/or participate in Staff Training initiatives, including monthly management training and departmental service training.
Work with departmental management to ensure that Safety Training is alive and well in departmental meetings, stand-up meetings, and in the consciousness of each hotel associate.
Collaborate with Management to ensure timely and accurate incident/accident reporting and post accident review.
Responsible for ensuring the proper use of forms, medical services, and reporting standards to the insurance company.
Monitor expenditures for Human Resources to ensure that the department stays within budget on a month-to-month basis.

Monitor and respond to unemployment insurance claims and actively work to reduce claim liability through detailed documentation and hearing compliance.
Recruiting, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, performing reference checks, preparing offer letters and new hire paperwork, conducting New Hire Orientations, and coordinating temporary staffing needs.
Develop networking contacts and coordinate local job fairs with local colleges for Internships.
Conduct exit interviews for all terminating associates, and ensure associate is properly closed out of the payroll and benefit systems.
Manage compliance with drug testing, I-9s, background & reference checks, etc.
Maintain and development of strategic recruitment plans for part-time and full-time associates.
Stay abreast of all Federal and State laws and keep management advised of changes that affect associates and operations.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
