Position Title: Long-Term Substitute - 8th Grade Language Arts
Assignment Location: Middle School
Duration: April 7, 2025 until June 6, 2025 (9 weeks)
Job Summary:
Ovid-Elsie Middle School is seeking a dedicated and qualified individual to fill the position of Long-Term Substitute for 8th Grade Language Arts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching and engaging students in a dynamic and supportive learning environment. The substitute will work closely with the department and school leadership to ensure continuity of instruction during the absence of the regular teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction based on the 8th grade Language Arts curriculum, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language development.
- Instruct students according to plans prepared by the absent teacher.
- Assigns work according to plans prepared by the absent teacher.
- Assess and monitor student progress through regular assignment, test, and evaluations.
- Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure the academic success of all students.
- Maintains an awareness of and complies with district policy, administrative rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university (preferred).
- Valid Michigan Teacher certificate (preferred).
- or 60 college credit hours are required in order to apply for a sub permit.
- Previous experience in teaching or working with middle school students (preferred).
- Knowledge of subject/content area, ability to adapt.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Display and maintain a professional rapport with faculty, staff, students and families.
