What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Technician position at OVP Health?
SUMMARY: A behavioral health technician is expected to understand and implement individual treatment plans, record patient behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients. The BHT will be responsible for stabilizing members from imminent danger. The BHT will use group therapy to treat members with cognitive impairment or other impairments, which are unable to utilize community-based treatment. Group will be led by the BHT and will build off the professional therapies that happened in the group before it. This will be done in a repetitive fashion to ensure the information is retained by the members with cognitive distortions and developmentally delayed issues. The BHT will be responsible for monitoring the behavior of these members on a 24/7 basis due to them being cognitively impaired or developmental delayed. Their job may also include mediating or restricting any disruptive behavior. Some of the most important skills required for this field include interpersonal and observational skills, along with physical stamina.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in client treatment plans and record patient behavior
- Provide safe and supportive environment for patients
- Stabalize and de-escalation members in any danger
- Mediating and restriction of disruptive behavior
- Participate in Group Therapy based on members needs
- Monitor behavior in 24/7 basis
- Interpersonal and observation skills
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in the behavioral health field
- Must have demonstrated extensive experience in the treatment and care of men and women who have mental health, substance abuse or trauma related issues and/or children who have experienced these issues or child abuse/neglect.
