SUMMARY: The Grinder's primary job is using a handheld grinder, and various grit disks or pads, to grind/buff down the welds on steel & aluminum furniture according to the production schedule & established quality standards.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Be able to ask for further direction or help when not sure of what to do or is being asked of you.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Grind or buff, various pieces of steel & aluminum furniture or parts to flatten & blend in weld marks & correct defects and prepare surfaces for finishing, using handheld power tools.
- Grinding disks, pads & back plates need to be checked periodically in order to remain at optimum working capability.
- Stop using any handheld power tool upon discovery of a problem. If fixable, fix the tool, if not fixable, make sure the tool is sent to the maintenance dept for repair.
- Provide quality control by inspecting each workpiece as your grinding it to ensure that the established quality standards are maintained. If you have a question, ask your supervisor or lead.
- Ability to use grinding & buffing hand power tool, to grind & buff metal parts to their prescribed design specifications and maintain the established high-quality standards.
- Inspect finished products to ensure the surfaces are free from defects or excessive grind marks. Excessive grind marks become very noticeable after a piece is powder coated. However, discovering defects after powder coating creates additional work to fix the grinding defect and then the piece must be powder coated again.
- Keep all equipment running by inspecting and performing basic maintenance, including lubrication and cleaning, and scheduling repairs when needed.
- Perform basic repairs, including replacing parts when they are worn down or broken, within the scope of expected knowledge and expertise.
- Use only established procedures for assigned tasks.
- Keep work area clean and picked upped.
- Always strive to increase productivity while maintaining established quality standards.

- Quality must always be a top priority.
- All quality issues, rejects, out of specification, and the like for frames, rims, and other items need to be documented & communicated for review to the department lead & supervisor and then to the production manager, on a daily basis.

- Understand thoroughly the Company's worker and workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Follow all company safety policies, other polices & procedures.
- Watch for employees who are not wearing proper safety equipment or are committing safety violations, and report any incidents to your Lead, Supervisor or Manager as soon as possible.
- Notify the Department Lead or Supervisor or Manager right away of any serious situation to correct the situation.

- Must be able to place frames on a work table and secure as needed to grind or buff.
- Must be able to stand for 8 hours a day.
- May be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
