As the Retail Assistant Manager, you will be the linchpin between the store staff and management ensuring seamless operations, exemplary customer service, and a positive work environment. The assistant manager will also contribute to accounting for departmental expenses while maximizing efficiency. We are seeking candidates that will promote good business practices with a special focus on achieving the highest possible standards of service excellence. You will also help manage the Retail Supervisor and all team members in a professional manner while working to improve their performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keep Retail Manager informed of departmental readiness and concerns
- Ensure the highest level of guest service is achieved by all employees
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned retail locations
- Assist in developing operational guidelines for each retail location
- Achieve business goals and objectives set forth by the Retail Manager
- Promote a healthy, safe, and hazard-free work environment
- Maintain accountability for department labor and inventory
- Anticipate needs and service requirements and work with the Retail Manager to develop plans
- Research and suggest new products that fit each store’s footprint
- Monitor the ordering and receiving program to ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum five years of work experience in a retail environment
- Verifiable supervisory experience of ten or more employees for a minimum of two years
- Retail buying experience preferred
- Experience with retail point-of-sale inventory systems
- Proficient experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license
- Able to lift twenty pounds unattended and forty pounds with assistance
- Willing and able to work odd or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Able to work in sunny, hot, humid, cold, and rainy conditions
