What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at Owasso Education Foundation?
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Director of Development will have strategic and
operational responsibility for Owasso Education Foundation programs, fundraising, and
execution of the organizational mission.
The ideal candidate has experience in nonprofit rules and regulations, fundraising, event
management, volunteer management, strong communication skills, is organized and able to
multitask. Knowledge of Microsoft 365: Word, and Excel required. Experience with fundraising
database(s) a plus.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
Actively engage and energize volunteers, board members, committees, partnering
organizations and funders in the mission of the organization.
Develop, maintain, and support Board of Directors: serves as ex-officio of each
committee, seek and build board involvement.
Establish strong working relationships with OPS Administration, Owasso Chamber of
Commerce, City of Owasso, PTA/PTOs and other interested parties.
Fundraising and Communications:
Expand fundraising activities to support existing program operations.
Deepen and refine all aspects of communications – from web presence to external
relations within the community and district with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
Develop relationships to garner new opportunities.
Publicize the activities of the organization, its programs and goals through media outlets,
website, Facebook, Twitter and other appropriate means.
Event Coordination and Oversight. Work in partnership with the Board of Directors to
facilitate at minimum, two annual fundraising events.
Administration:
Maintain official records and documents, and ensure compliance with federal, state and
local regulations.
See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all-
important factors influencing it.
Qualifications
The Executive Directors will be thoroughly committed to OPS Foundation’s mission. All
candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience.
Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
Minimum of a associate's degree required, bachelor's degree preferred.
Three or more years of fundraising experience. Certified Fundraising Executive
credentials preferred.
Past success working with volunteers.
Strong marketing, public relations, fundraising, and special event experience with the
ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to planning.
Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Ability to work some non-business hours and weekends, when required by special event.
Physical requirements: Ability to push, pull, lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability stand, walk, use fingers, hands and arms. Must be able to hear spoken words via telephone.
