Job Summary
Owatonna Motor Company is looking for a Parts Department Assistant to join our team. A qualified candidate is responsible for daily duties in the parts department that will help drive the entire dealership’s overall performance. This role includes working as part of our team to control inventory, deliver parts to customers, ship and receive inventory, communicate parts status to employees and schedule vehicle maintenance in the parts department. Responsibilities
- Unload trucks and receive inventory accurately by identifying information, counts, or measures against bills of lading or other shipper documents
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments for damages or shortages and reports discrepancies to manager
- Mark parts to identify where they are to be allocated
- Route incoming items to the appropriate department
- Efficiently pick up and drop off parts from shops or warehouse as needed
- Pack and unpack items to be stored on shelves in an orderly and accessible manner
- Pick parts from stock to fill orders
- Verify inventory physical counts and investigate discrepancies
- Clean and maintain the delivery vehicle and all shipping tools and equipment to ensure safety
- Ship out items using appropriate containers, fillers, postage and shipping procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned such as cleaning, sweeping, recycling or snow removal
- Communicate with customers and staff in a friendly and professional manner
- Must follow company safety policies and procedures
- Understand and follow federal, state and local regulations applicable to industry
Requirements
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees
- Ability to add and subtract 2 digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 6’s, 10’s, 12’s and 100’s
- Ability to plan a delivery route that is efficient and communicate that route to the parts department
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions or adapt a plan should a change to original instructions occur
- Ability to deal with problems that may occur having few to many variables in a standardized situation
- Ability to deal with environmental conditions including circumstances for weather, heat, cold, wet, fumes, electricity, explosive materials, and vibration
- Have a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Are able to work in a fast-paced work environment
- Submit to drug screen
- Be legally able to drive and have a clear and valid driver's license
