The School Social Worker promotes and enhances the overall academic mission by
providing services that strengthen home / school / community partnerships and alleviate barriers to learning. The
School Social Worker significantly contributes to the development of a health, safe and caring environment by
advancing the understanding of the emotional and social development of children and the influences of family,
community and cultural differences on student success and by implementing effective intervention strategies.
The School Social Worker will be a part of each school's student assistance team.
Position Requirements :
- Master's degree and licensure as a School Social Worker.
- Experience and training in group and individual counseling with school-age population.
- Working knowledge in areas of child abuse and neglect.
- Sensitivity to students in need and the ability to communicate effectively with students, adults and
- community agencies.
- Preferred county-wide knowledge of community resources.
