With our growing list of projects, we are looking to add a Site Lead who is interested in being part of a tight knit, dynamic team to build custom residential and commercial projects for aspirational homeowners and businesses alike.


Reports to: Project Manager or designee.


Position Summary

FLSA Class: Hourly Non-Exempt


The Site Lead is the point person on site and is responsible for assisting the Project Team in overseeing jobsites for Owen Gabbert LLC, including its subcontractors and other company employees. This person is comfortable interacting with clients and understands that client satisfaction for each job is paramount. They can lead a team efficiently, while remaining organized, hands-on, and attentive to detail across all projects and job responsibilities. Due to the varied nature of the position, they will also be asked to perform and lead various construction tasks, including but not limited to rough and finish carpentry, demolition, general labor, waterproofing, and temporary protection.


Jobs To Be Done


  • Supervise work at a larger jobsite or at several smaller projects, ensuring successful completion of the build process.
  • Develop and maintain good rapport with subcontractors, clients, city officials and inspectors, while advocating and negotiating solutions that benefit the client, company, and project.
  • Deliver projects on time, ensuring all contract obligations are satisfied.
  • Maintain workplace safety, cleanliness, and security at jobsites.
  • Accurately interpret plan specifications to ensure proper selection and install of materials.
  • Help plan field operations, including subcontractor, labor, equipment, and delivery scheduling.
  • Line out scope and expectations and review the work of subcontractors’ and Owen Gabbert LLC laborers and carpenters daily; handle any related issues to company and client expectations.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable building codes; ensure inspections are scheduled and passed.
  • Maintain site documentation including current plans, specifications, and site photos of each phase/milestone in the construction process.
  • Manage field aspects of project budgets, schedules, and quality control.
  • Understand and communicate important project decisions and changes to site personnel and ensure changes are tracked by project team; provide regular updates on project status.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve clients and increase the good will and profit of the company.
  • Self-perform and/or manage others completing various carpentry and construction tasks while maintaining other site responsibilities.
  • Assist the project team with subcontractor/supplier invoice review; authorize payment of subcontractors upon thorough inspection of their work.
  • Build estimates and schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager for potential projects.

  • You are adaptable and comfortable wearing a variety of hats— most days you manage a site full of trades people, some days you are a carpenter or are managing a carpentry team, and occasionally you are helping build the estimate for the next potential project.

  • You have a passion for craft and efficiency, knowing how to properly balance and blend them.


Experience & Requirements


  • 5 years in construction including experience in a leadership/management role as a lead carpenter or foreman.
  • Appropriate hand tool, power tools, and equipment, owned and maintained in good working order. See tool list following this job post.
  • Strong knowledge of all phases of construction scope and sequence and the ability to proactively plan ahead and manage critical path.
  • Experience with power tools and construction techniques as well as common and high-end construction materials.
  • Computer literacy - comfortable with email, Microsoft Word, and Excel. Willing to learn our project management/scheduling software (Buildertrend).
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and communicate this information to others.
  • Experience coordinating both subcontracted and self-performed work.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work long days and/or overtime when necessary, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Access to a vehicle capable of carrying supplies, a valid driver’s license, and able to drive between designated projects throughout your workday.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; sit for extended periods; bend at the waist; repetitive motions; push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl; walk on uneven terrain; proficient manual dexterity with both small and large objects; lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Resiliency to withstand regular exposure to outside weather conditions, loud noises, tight spaces, high precarious places, moving mechanical parts, power tools, risk of electrical shock as well as other inherent construction site risks.
  • You must be able to perform all requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.

Site Lead: Site Leads should have their own required tools to tackle general carpentry and the unexpected task but are also the responsible party for having the appropriate tools on site at all times for the scope of work to be done both for their own self-performing tasks and the needs of the job.


Required - On hand, all times:

  • Company-Provided computer or tablet and charger.
