Job Title: Construction Estimator
Job Summary:
The Construction Estimator plays a crucial role in the project development process, responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and detailed quantity take-offs for construction projects. By evaluating project plans, specifications, and other documents, the estimator calculates material, labor, and equipment costs. This involves close collaboration with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other construction professionals to ensure that bids are competitive and align with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review Project Documents: Analyze blueprints, technical specifications, and scope of work documents to comprehend project requirements.
- Prepare Cost Estimates: Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, ensuring accuracy in estimating quantities and costs for all aspects of the project.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate and analyze construction costs, comparing historical data for similar projects. Identify cost-saving opportunities and potential risks.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, evaluating proposals to ensure they meet project requirements and budgets.
- Preparation of Bids: Prepare and submit competitive and comprehensive bids for projects, collaborating with project managers and senior staff to finalize bid submissions.
- Site Visits and Assessments: Visit project sites to assess existing conditions, conduct measurements, and identify potential challenges affecting project costs.
- Collaboration with Project Team: Work closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and other team members to ensure estimates align with project goals and specifications.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 3 years of experience in construction estimating, with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with construction estimating software (e.g., ProEst, Buildertrend, Sage, or similar tools) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze project plans and specifications to accurately estimate costs.
