What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEP Engineer position at Owen Thomas Group?
A well-respected consulting client of ours in NYC is seeking to hire an MEP Engineer based out of NYC on a hybrid schedule. Projects vary between education, healthcare, commercial, and cultural projects that include museums and theatres. A mechanical background in HVAC or Plumbing/Fire Protection is preferred, but open to viewing Electrical Engineers as well. The role will include the following:
- As an MEP Engineer you will work with guidance and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer
- You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes, engineering standards and practices
- Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
- Performs AutoCAD/Revit design for the mechanical discipline using knowledge of fundamental mechanical engineering concepts
- Works with architectural, interior designers, and other engineering disciplines in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer
- Performs field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer
Qualifications -
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar role within an engineering or related environment
- Familiarity with Autodesk REVIT MEP, AutoCAD MEP, and Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding in the design of mechanical systems for buildings (HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection) preferably in healthcare, commercial or educational facilities
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering
Salary : $120,000 - $160,000
