MUST BE ON TIME AND WORK WHAT YOU HAVE AGREED TO IN A WORK SCHEDULE. In a word, BE DEPENDABLE! You will need to be able to navigate stairs and be on your feet most of the day. Option #1 School Semester Schedule:
16-30 hours/week DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. If a student, possible to have up to 40 hours per week DURING THE SUMMER
If in school we will work with your school schedule to find times that work for you and us.

Option #2 Summer Seasonal Employment:
Start May 1st and end August 26th. Summer Seasonal could be up to full time 40 hours per week or as little as 24 hours per week.

Option #3 Year Round:
16-30 hours/week. We require a flexible semester schedule that changes every school semester & during the summer time.

General Summary:
The Cashier is responsible for greeting and engaging the customer. Working to keep the flow of the customers at the register area moving. Always looking for an enthusiastic way to make our customers experience efficiently fun. While helping maintain a clean and orderly merchandise presentation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)
Customer Service:
• Smile! Laugh & Have fun!
⦁ Provide a positive representation of Owenhouse Ace Hardware.
⦁ Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
• Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
⦁ Project a friendly outgoing demeanor.
⦁ Work well with customers as well as associates.
⦁ Ensure all pages and calls are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
⦁ Forward any customer complaint that cannot be handled to a member of management.
⦁ Possess strong product knowledge of store layout and location of products.
⦁ Assist customers with personal, customized service based on the premise of amazing every customer, every time.

Duties include but not limited to:
• Thank customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.
• Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
• Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
• Continually build product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assist in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise.

Register Operations
• Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
• Responsible for accurately counting change back to customers.
• Adhere to any Store program or promotion that may require implementation at the cash registers.
• Participate in all store and Cashier meetings.

Front End Appearance and Upkeep
• Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end.
• Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.
• Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
• Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
• Assist with decorating the front end.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Other Essential Requirements:

High School or GED equivalent.
Knowledge of basic computer functions.

Experience:

Cashier experience preferred.
Customer service experience preferred.

Physical Demands
Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25 lbs) and climbing.
