Performs general maintenance for the college which may include carpentry, light electrical, plumbing, painting, moving, filter changes, coil cleaning and greasing of motors and equipment. And other duties as assigned.
This position includes a $.30 shift differential.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for training new and current second shift maintenance personnel and takes lead on second shift maintenance projects such as minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC diagnostics, as well as snow and ice removal and salting during second shift hours.
- This position operates all necessary equipment which may include loaders and dump trucks. This position guides and advises other maintenance personnel on second shift and takes lead in handling emergencies that occur during 2nd shift hours which include fire alarms and calls from Public Safety and other situations that need immediate attention.
- Perform maintenance on the Perrysburg or Toledo campus as needed. Work may include plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and general maintenance. Work may include painting and finish work. Work will include event setup and teardowns. Work will be all other duties as assigned.
- Perform Specialized and/or large painting tasks such as patching, preparing touch-ups, preparing surfaces to be coated including cleaning, scarping and sanding etc., protecting all surfaces not to be coated including taping and covering, etc. Apply coatings via methods including spraying, brushing, rolling, and clean up. Cleanup work area, tools, etc.
- Work will include all forms of snow removal including plowing, shoveling and salting. All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Building construction and their mechanical operations.
- Maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment, buildings, tools and a variety of other facilities of various construction materials.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Good customer service skills.
- Capable of climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as loaders and high lifts.
- Must be physically able to perform all responsibilities efficiently and effectively in all types of weather.
- Capable of using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Capable of performing preventative or repair maintenance of buildings, equipment, tools, and mechanically/electrically controlled systems.

Minimum Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Must possess a Journeyman Card or equivalent experience in either the electrical, carpentry or plumbing or general maintenance
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record (must be insurable). Must pass a background check on criminal and motor vehicles records.
