Job Summary:
Expanded function dental assistants assists the dentist in providing high-quality dental care by performing expanded functions in the treatment of patients. The EFDA is responsible for a variety of clinical tasks, including restorative procedures, dental impressions, assisting with surgical procedures, and ensuring patient comfort during treatment. The role requires the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while adhering to Pennsylvania’s dental regulations and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting the dentist during procedures: Help with a variety of dental procedures, including restorative, orthodontic, and surgical procedures.
- Restorative functions: Place and carve dental materials, such as composite resins, under the supervision of the dentist.
- Dental impressions: Take and pour dental impressions for crowns, bridges, and dentures.
- Temporary restorations: Fabricate temporary restorations for patients in between appointments.
- Coronal polishing: Perform coronal polishing and fluoride treatments.
- Radiographs: Take dental X-rays as needed.
- Sealants: Apply dental sealants to teeth under the direction of the dentist.
- Patient care: Provide patient education and ensure the comfort and safety of patients throughout the dental procedures.
- Instrument sterilization: Ensure all instruments are sterilized and prepared for dental procedures, following infection control protocols.
- Administrative duties: Maintain patient records, manage appointments, and assist with office administration when necessary.
- Compliance: Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards for dental care, including the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry’s regulations.
Qualifications:
X-Ray Certification
CPR/BLS certification ( re-certification completed as an office and reimbursed)
Ability to multi-task, communicate with patients and work well in a fast-paced environment.
