Summary
Job Summary
Performs technical and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.
Job Responsibilities
- Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, and transporting specimens.
- Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Orders supplies as needed.
- Confirms eligibility, verifies insurance benefits, referrals, and authorization for identified patient registrations.
- Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner.
- Performs clerical duties including supply distribution, answering phones, data entry, and filing.
- May perform venipuncture on patients of all age groups and other specimen collection consistently using proper therapeutic skills and according to procedures.
- May assist in delivery of physicians' reports via phone and electronic distribution in a timely manner.
- May perform waived Laboratory testing on-site and reports results according to government standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
- No experience required
- No licensure/certification/registration required
