What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Sponsor position at Owensville High School?

REPORTS TO: Director of Activities and Building Principal
REQUIRED PERFORMANCE AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in Speech competitions each year. (usually 3 in-district meets plus the conference final and district event).
- Contact schools where competitions are held and complete all entry paperwork as needed.
- Begin holding practices after school when MSHSAA allows. 2 to 3 times per week from October through February or the end of the season if there are state qualifiers.
- Order buses for competitions, using the work order system.
- Help students pick material that they will compete with.
- Order new material as needed, using the requisition system.
- Attend the Fall Conference Meeting which is usually on a Wednesday in early September.
- Do preparations to host a meet every other year as a conference meet.
- Complete the MSHSSA rules test.
- Update and maintain points for the National Forensics League.
- Prepare for Spring Awards.
- Coordinate/organize a Spring Awards activity.
- Keep the office notified of activities, contests, meets, etc.
SALARY: 7.0% of base teacher salary schedule to be established by the Board of Education.
