As the Registered Nurse at OWM Wellness, you will fulfill the clinical responsibilities associated with initiating IV access and administering IV medications. The Registered Nurse’s primary role is initiating IV access and preparing and administering IV medications per physician orders. Monitors and records symptoms or changes in patient condition during treatment. Documents all patient information appropriately in designated EMR system. Responsible for monitoring and managing stock of IV medications and supplies. This position will also require active involvement in patient triage activities and ancillary support functions. Involves coordinating patient care, ensuring optimal stock levels, and enhancing operational efficiency across the practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clinical Infusion and Medical Ozone:
- Conducts patient outreach, reviews treatment plans, and collaborates with providers to prepare and administer IV medications.
- Gathers comprehensive medical histories, updates patient records, and ensures accurate documentation in the EMR system.
- Performs venipuncture, initiates IV infusions or Ozone treatments, and monitors patients throughout their treatments.
- Administer prescribed medications, botanical/nutritional products via IV route following established protocols and guidelines, ensuring accurate dosage, rate and compatibility
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all IV therapies administered, including doses, vital signs, other treatments and patient response.
- Be prepared to respond promptly and effectively to any IV therapy related emergencies or allergic reactions following established protocols and guidelines.
- Conducts post-treatment follow-ups with patients and addresses any concerns or questions.
- Manages inventory of IV medications and supplies, ensuring availability for upcoming appointments.
- Clinical Support, Inventory Management, and Patient Communication:
- Provides clinical assistance as needed and supports inventory management of infusion products, fluids, and supplies.
- Coordinates scheduling using our EMR software, ensuring adherence to guidelines and optimizing office efficiency.
- Offers training, supplies, and education on injectables such as peptides to patients and staff.
- Assists with various testing procedures and specimen collection, adhering to safety protocols.
- Communicates with patients via in-person interactions, phone, and patient portal to address inquiries and schedule appointments.
- Continuous Quality Improvement and Leadership:
- Upholds patient confidentiality and maintains a clean, organized work environment.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the infusion center to enhance safety and patient care.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control measures to minimize the risk of complications and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
- Ensure proper functioning of equipment by conducting regular inspections and troubleshooting as needed
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, audits and evaluations related to IV therapy practices to uphold high standards of patient care and safety.
- Facilitates training sessions for new staff and provides support during staffing shortages.
- Collaborates with the Clinical Manager to ensure smooth operations and adherence to regulatory standards.

- Ensures the infusion center is clean, organized, and conducive to patient healing.
- Implements strategies such as monitoring music and ambiance to promote a calm atmosphere during treatments.
- Prioritizes patient comfort and treatment adherence while respecting their time through efficient scheduling and attentive care.
- Adheres to OWM's high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality.
- Identifies opportunities to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency within the infusion center.

- Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain composure under pressure, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency in EMR documentation and familiarity with scheduling software.

Preferred Education & Experience:
- 2 year college degree in Nursing is required, BSN degree preferred
- 2-3 years of experience working within a health care setting in which the primary responsibility was clinical tasks such as following physician orders for patient care, initiating and monitoring IV infusions, patient assessment and monitoring, communicating with multi-disciplinary care team regarding patient care and documenting in an EMR system.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Current CPR required.
Active NYS Registered Nurse license required.
Shifts will be either (4) 10-hour shifts or (5) 8-hour shifts with Saturday shift rotating between the Infusion Team members.
