In the role of Phlebotomist, responsibilities encompass collecting, transporting, and processing blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis, supporting the clinical team with excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to patient care. Tasks include phlebotomy and specimen prep, preparing rooms and assisting with procedures and treatments, post procedure calls, monitoring supply and test kit inventory. This position will also require active involvement in patient triage activities and supporting the operations of the medical practice.
In the role of a Clinical Assistant, responsibilities encompass assisting nurses in daily care of iv clients, to include checking on iv drips to ensure no infiltration and proper drip rate, monitoring ozone multipass machine, helping with client positioning and any comfort measures needed during infusions, bringing clients into their iv chars/ rooms, getting their weight and doing a brief intake in WRS. Performs Weber laser shower head and sonodynamic therapies on cancer patients as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Phlebotomy
- Perform Venipuncture And Skin Punctures To Collect Blood Specimens From Patients
- Label And Organize Specimens For Laboratory Testing
- Prepare And Maintain Equipment, Such As Needles, Tubes, And Blood Vials
- Verify Patient Information And Ensure All Specimens Are Properly Labeled
- Able To Follow Provider Orders For Bloodwork And Test Kits (Panels And Individual Tests/Kits)
- Able To Enter Lab Orders Into Quest/Labcorp, Order Supplies And Request Pickup And Monitor For Results
- Familiar With Panels And Their Corresponding Individual Test Components And How To Draw And Process Them
- Able To Add Results To Patient Chart In Wrs And Notate In Appointment That Labs Are In
- Follow Proper Infection Control And Safety Procedures
- Educate Patients On The Phlebotomy Process And Ensure Their Comfort And Confidentiality
- Assist With Administrative Tasks, Such As Answering Phones And Scheduling Appointments
2. Patient intake and nursing support
- Works to optimize iv patient flow (keeps iv clients on schedule, minimizes excessive waiting time by patient).
- Greets and escorts patient to IV room. Interviews patients to identify any changes to medications and update medial history.
- Cleans up IV treatment room and prepares room for next patient
- Properly and safely disposes of contaminated supplies
- Maintain instruments and clean/sterilize equipment as required
- Prepare PRP/Stem cell products per protocol under the direction of a licensed provider
- Post IV follow up calls to patients
- Monitors, orders and maintains inventory for medical and phlebotomy supplies
- Receives, opens incoming shipments, updates inventory and puts items away
- Support the registered nurses and infusion business segment as needed
3. Administrative Tasks and Operations Support:
- Greets all patients with OWM greeting and follows procedure for welcoming patients to office
- Review and update patient demographic information if changes have occurred.
- Provide phone and general reception support as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Work Environment:
- Works in an office environment with occasional exposure to patient care areas.
- May be required to occasionally lift or move items up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program
- Certification as a Phlebotomist (CPT) preferred
- 2-3 years previous experience working as a Phlebotomist
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to adhere to all safety and infection control standards
