Job Description:
Duties may include the following responsibilities within the paint dept. Operation in accordance to systems and procedures within the dept. and to health and safety requirements, handling of material and waste between processes, quality of own work/product, daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance within the dept., participation in daily dept. meetings and in continuous improvement/lean enterprise activities, participation in dept. design and controls, support the dept. Supervisor in maintenance of documentation, filling in for Supervisor when necessary, and cross-training within the dept. At a minimum, you will be required to successfully perform all activities as specified in the work instructions applicable to each work position within the dept. Duties may include but are not limited to performing various painting operations on a variety of parts, bodies, and sub-assemblies and setting-up and operating complex paint equipment. This position may perform other duties as assigned or fill in for others in the department or other departments as needed or requested.
In addition to the above duties, responsibilities may include leading and managing their appropriate dept. through: the motivation of individuals and encouragement of teamwork, planning and allocating of tasks within the dept. through daily stand-up meetings, local scheduling to achieve production plan, development and progression of training plans, defining staffing requirements for and induction of new employees, maintenance of documentation within the dept., conducting dept. audits, communication within the dept., generation, display, and communication of dept. performance, improvement of processes and resources within the cell to achieve performance targets, resolution of conflicts and problems within the dept., attending and supporting supervisor meetings, evaluating improvement suggestions, securing premises, equipment, and products within the cell, and should be familiar with company paperwork, such as computing labor hours, absence/ tardy reports, daily recap sheets, GEMBA board / White board. Will train or instruct fellow workers as needed.
Desired competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
- LEAN manufacturing experience.
- Prior manufacturing leadership.
- Working knowledge of 5S.
- Strong in Problem Solving.
- Working knowledge of paint booths.
- Experience in leading teams up to 25.
Skill Requirements:
- The candidate will have 3 years of experience in managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Possess a working knowledge of shop math and basic engineering and business calculations.
- Able to deal with mid-management or executive level contacts.
- Automotive / Equipment Paint experience min of two years.
Education Requirements:
- 2 - 4 years related functional experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
