What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Supervisor-Install position at Ox Bodies?
Job Description:
- Monitor operators to ensure all safety policies and procedures are being met.
- Take corrective action on associates that do not comply with procedures / policies.
- Ensures dept. is focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Monitor quality work performed by operators and take action if defective rate goes up.
- Monitor employee production and attendance reports to ensure performance and attendance standards are being met and take appropriate action as necessary.
- Monitor daily work schedules and assign tasks to ensure customer expectations are being met and make adjustments as necessary to include overtime.
- Communicate production and management objectives, technical problems and personnel issues to all shifts.
- Communicate technical problems and make recommendations for their resolution to the engineering staff.
- Identify root cause of defects using problem solving tools to include 5Y
- Suggest permanent corrective action for quality issues and make recommendations to process repairs to Quality Control or Engineering.
- Review department staffing and make personnel decisions on staffing to include wage increases, employee promotions as well as interview and hire new employees.
- Complete annual performance appraisals and review with employees.
- Develop ongoing performance comments for staff; recommend disciplinary action if needed and record in personnel file.
- Train Leads in all supervisory functions.
- Coordinate and compile operating and capital budgets and plans.
- Consult with vendors on tooling, machinery and miscellaneous supplies in order to maintain relationships and answer questions.
- Attend outside meetings, seminars and trade shows to stay current with industry information.
- Order department supplies to include preparing purchase order requisitions. Oversees proper labeling and condition of hazardous waste containers. Oversees and inspects hazardous waste storage area.
- Ensure Gemba boards are up to date and board is used to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure area of responsibility is cleaned daily and practice 6S program.
Desired experience in one or all of the below areas:
- Automotive background.
- Hydraulic background.
- Installation background.
- Weld experience.
- DC electrical background.
Desired competencies:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
- LEAN manufacturing experience.
- Strong in MS Excel
- Prior manufacturing leadership.
- Working knowledge of 6S.
- Strong in Problem Solving
- Working knowledge of DMAIC
- Working knowledge of TOC
- Black or Green Belt certified.
Skill Requirements:
- The candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in managing teams in a manufacturing environment.
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to effectively work and interact with others.
- Able to understand broad direction on goals and objectives and accomplish the same.
- Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Possess a working knowledge of shop math and basic engineering and business calculations.
- Able to work with mid-management or executive level contacts.
Education Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years related functional experience. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
