General Purpose of Job: Ox Paperboard Eaton, LLC is seeking a dedicated Assistant Superintendent to lead our production team in Eaton, IN. This position is responsible for overseeing plant operations, ensuring efficiency, maintaining safety standards, and driving continuous improvement. The assistant superintendent will manage production employees, assign work, implement policies and procedures, and identify opportunities to enhance productivity while controlling costs. The Assistant Production Superintendent must be a strong leader and have demonstrated experience in the paper-making process and supporting equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should have at least three years of supervisory experience in a paper mill or a similar manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of paper production processes, equipment, and maintenance procedures is required, along with leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards is essential. Effective communication and organizational abilities are key to success in this role.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time, salaried position with a variable schedule based on operational needs. The assistant superintendent will be on call 24/7 and participate in rotating weekend coverage with the management team. The role requires extended periods of walking and standing in an industrial setting with exposure to heat, humidity, noise, and moving machinery. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as necessary. Occasional travel may be required for training or industry events.
Essential Duties and responsibilities:
- Promote a safe working environment in all interactions with plant personnel as well as personally following all safety rules and regulations.
- Lead safety systems and processes that support achieving our continually improving annual goals.
- Identify developmental needs and facilitate training of production personnel
- Plan and control production performance
- Monitor compliance with standard operating procedures.
- Ensure quality systems are in place and comply with customer specifications.
- Coordinate efforts with maintenance department for improved uptime and efficiencies
- Develop and maintain methods of tracking and reducing operational costs.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to increase overall machine efficiency.
- Reduce waste from off specification production and or losses
- Ensures thorough and effective investigation of worksite accidents and helps to implement changes to prevent future occurrences.
- Works effectively and relates well with others. Exhibits a professional manner in dealing with others, working to maintain constructive working relationships.
- Keeps current on information and technology affecting functional areas to increase innovation and ensure compliance.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering, Pulp and Paper Science, or at least 3 years paper mill supervisory experience.
- Process Control knowledge
- Computer skills including but not limited to MS Office
- Demonstrated track record of initiative, leadership and effectiveness along with hands on practical experience.

- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong planning, organizational, time management and prioritization skills
