Job Description:
As a Linux System Engineer at OxBlue, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the performance, availability, and scalability of our systems. You'll work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to enhance and optimize our network and infrastructure, while automating system configurations and supporting a large-scale environment.

You will:
- Work closely with other engineering teams to identify systems requirements
- Maintain MySQL HA (source/replica replication, optimization and tuning)
- Define and implement event triggers that will alert on potential database issues
- Automate deploying and updating network and system configurations (Puppet/Foreman)
- Support CDNs, caching proxies and manage multi-site distribution networks
- Maintain current understanding of AWS cloud administration and standards
- Assess utilization trends, design and implement recommendations to scale architecture
- Optimize, tune and replicate multi-sites of extremely large data stores (think petabytes)
- Maintain and monitor centralized logging and monitoring software
You have:
- BS/BA degree or equivalent work experience
- High degree of proficiency in Linux and Database administration
- 5 or more years of experience in a large-scale networked Linux environment
- Security-focused system administration mindset
- Advanced CentOS/Rocky Linux/RHEL engineering on the LAMP stack
- Ability to install, configure and maintain Apache and MySQL
- Experience building deployment and automated tools using Bash and Puppet
- Strong knowledge of network technologies: IP Tables, NFS, DNS, FTP, Rsync
- Experience with network security and performance tuning (Kernel and TCP parameters)
- Excellent communication and project planning skills; must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
Bonus points for:
- Knowledge of AWS services such as IAM, EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, Elasticsearch,
- Networking experience with Fortinet hardware (updating ACLs, VPN, monitor traffic)
- Security audit experience and familiarity with IDS / penetration testing
- Experience with Splunk and highly customized Grafana / Prometheus / Loki
