Mental Health LPN
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: APRN
Job Summary:
Provide advanced nursing care to patients for both outpatient and inpatient behavioral health programs.
Essential Functions:
- Advocate for patients' and families' needs or provide emotional support for patients and their families.
- Administer medications as prescribed by psychiatric providers.
- Perform approved therapeutic or diagnostic procedures based upon clients' clinical status.
- Evaluate clients' vital signs and laboratory data.
- Coordinate between the psychiatric providers, pharmacies, and clients to ensure medications are filled or refilled, as appropriate.
- Monitor clients' mental status and condition and reports concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Promote wellness by providing client monitoring, education, and referral to other health care providers.
- Coordinates with the primary therapist and psychiatric provider to deal with medication management and psychiatric emergencies to ensure client care.
- Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with colleagues, other agencies, and community members to ensure quality client care, enhance agency functioning, and meet community needs
- Prepare and maintain all required documentation in accordance with Oxbow Center Policy and Procedures, HIPPA laws, and healthcare compliance regulations. Documentation includes, but is not limited to, records of nursing and case management services, medication records, and psychiatric notes.
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
- Prepare and maintain daily schedule to accurately reflect services provided. Ensure documentation is in accord with services reported.
- Learn about new developments in the field by completing courses, seminars, and/or trainings, and attending staff and supervisory meetings.
- License and certifications must be kept current.
- Provide education and consultation to agency staff, community members, other providers, and client family members.
- Participates in continuing education activities within the department and organization.
- Adherence to organizational policies and procedures
- Completes all training(s) as required by Oxbow Center.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing - REQUIRED
- Current licensure in the State of Wyoming - REQUIRED
- 3 - 5 years practical experience in public administration, management or a related field PREFERRED
- Demonstrates knowledge of nursing process, particularly as it relates to mental health clients.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages desirable - Spanish preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Organizational skills.
