ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

From its forest and farmland acreage in the Snoqualmie Valley, Oxbow Farm and Conservation Center cultivates conservation and food security to sustain and enhance the Puget Sound region. Oxbow’s primary funding source is Raven Trust, a family foundation.


The organization’s work is focused on providing immersive educational programming, growing native plants, and growing food for donation through food security partners. Oxbow’s education work reaches more than 8000 people each year through innovative, experiential programs.


POSITION OVERVIEW

Oxbow’s Director of Education leads the organization’s educational programs including overseeing their delivery and sourcing partnerships that enhance, deepen, and increase access to these offerings. A member of the Executive Team, this position collaborates closely with all other Oxbow Directors to ensure synergistic program development and alignment. A successful Director of Education will create and execute a 3-to-5-year plan for educational programming that measures and demonstrates mission impact. This role supervises the Education Program Manager and the Conservation Engagement Manager, each of whom have their own direct reports.


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In partnership with the Executive Team, lead the maturation of Oxbow’s educational programming strategy, approach, and plan with a focus on how program components tie to specific learning objectives and the organization’s mission and vision.
  • Direct the Education and Conservation Engagement Teams including assessing and developing staff capacity, supporting the hiring and training staff, and aligning the teams with the organization’s highest priorities.
  • Oversee the development of the year-round educational program calendar that meets external commitments, the mission, sound pedagogy, and team capacity.
  • Create and track the team’s budget and key performance indicators for learning objectives and program goals.
  • Establish, nurture, and expand partnership opportunities to increase program impact.
  • Work in collaboration with Oxbow’s other directors to define and deliver coordinated impact with education, native plants, and engagement.


CORE KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • 10 years of relevant professional experience such as education program leadership and nonprofit management.
  • Demonstrated success with developing and executing impactful partnerships.
  • Strong management skills, balanced strategic and tactical focus, with a demonstrated ability to deliver program results while maximizing individual development and well-being.
  • Knowledge and experience in budget management and fiscal oversight for teams/departments.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work some weekends and evenings.
  • Fluent working in Microsoft suite (Office 365, Teams, Outlook, OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).

COMPENSATION   

This is a regular, full-time position, with a competitive compensation package that includes 100% employer paid healthcare, annual dental stipend, employer retirement match, and generous holiday, vacation, and sick leave. The pay range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000 annually.
