Job Purpose

As the Gatekeeper, the incumbent is responsible for receiving and prioritizing work requests for maintaining the facilities. The Gatekeeper is the focal point for all maintenance and PPM activities in the operating unit(s). This person has the authority to determine the work that will be done in the unit(s) and is the primary contact for maintenance planning and scheduling. The Gatekeeper is the liaison between the Operations and Maintenance organizations.

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards.

Main Tasks And Responsibilities

• Appraise all maintenance work notifications for complete scope of work and value to the site. Only value-added work request are prioritized, planned and scheduled.
• Perform any necessary coaching needed by persons writing notifications
• Ensure that all work performed supports the goals and objectives of the site and business line.
• Know the production requirements of all units in area of responsibility.
• Work with the Operations to identify the areas upcoming maintenance needs, identify high priority work, and ensure notifications are correctly prioritized.
• Assist in the coordination of taking specific equipment out of service at a specified date.
• Track area’s PM inspection schedule and assist Specialists in ensuring equipment pm compliance is met.
• Analyze the maintenance planning, scheduling, and work order execution work processes to identify areas of concern and drive improvement.
• Monitor work backlog to ensure adequate resources are available to complete work; recommend staffing changes when needed.
• Communicate to Planners the priority of the maintenance notifications to be planned.
• Define and set weekly maintenance schedule.
• Assist site scheduler in formatting all maintenance work in the weekly maintenance schedule.
• Follow progress of all equipment sent offsite for repairs.
• Track all special purpose parts ordered for equipment repairs.
• Pursue solutions for equipment with repetitive failures.
• Assist Project/Maintenance Coordinator with the coordination of work orders that interrupt the weekly maintenance schedule (P1 & P2).
• Monitor and control the maintenance budgets for the areas that are the Gatekeepers responsibility.
• Work closely with the Project/Maintenance Coordinator to ensure the site’s maintenance resources and the units maintenance needs are met in a cost effective manner.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
  
  

Background And Experience

• 5 years in Maintenance or equivalent role
• Experience in a Chemical/Petrochemical manufacturing environment
  
  

Competencies And Skills

• Knowledge of multiple maintenance crafts, including support services
• Knowledge of OSHA Regulations, and all plant safety requirements and procedures
• Working knowledge of personal computer tools including standard Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and experience using an ERP system (such as SAP)
• Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork and cooperation
