The Director of Advancement Systems plays a strategic leadership role in overseeing the integration, optimization, and continuous improvement of Development and University Relations (DAUR) advancement systems. Serving as a key partner and second to the Executive Director, this role ensures the seamless operation of systems such as Ellucian CRM Advance and Blackbaud Fundraising Performance Management to support fundraising and constituent engagement strategies.
This position requires a deep understanding of advancement technology, data analysis, and project management. It may involve occasional work outside normal business hours in the event of critical system disruptions.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdvancement Systems Management & Strategy- Oversee the administration, integration, and enhancement of DAUR's advancement systems, ensuring their availability, security, and efficiency.
- Continuously assess data needs and recommend improvements to streamline and automate business processes.
- Partner with Fordham IT and other stakeholders to advocate for system enhancements and ensure alignment with organizational needs.
- Lead the implementation of emerging technologies related to fundraising, data management, and engagement tracking to optimize performance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project intake and management, providing clear communication on project status and timelines.
- Analyze donor and engagement trends to inform strategic decision-making and fundraising efforts.
- Maintain and enhance self-service and ad hoc reporting tools to support DAUR's operational needs.
- Develop and oversee data security protocols and user access management for advancement systems.
- Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance on professional development, performance management, and skill-building.
- Act as the team lead in the absence of the Executive Director.
- Foster a collaborative, solution-oriented environment, ensuring efficiency in handling complex projects with multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of six (6) years of relevant work experience.
- At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Strong proficiency in CRM systems, relational databases, and SQL query writing.
- Experience with application development best practices, Agile methodologies, and project management.
- Ability to translate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience in a higher education development and alumni relations office.
- Familiarity with Ellucian CRM Advance, Power BI, Ellucian Banner, and Blackbaud platforms.
