What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Design Engineer position at Oxenham Group?
Requirements :
Experience with : Design / creation of custom test equipment, prototyping, etc. Designing of electromechanical systems.
Willingness to provide hands on participation in the creation of the aforementioned.
Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
Proficiency in CAD, preferably SolidWorks.
Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) process.
Role Responsibilities :
The research and prototyping of concepts to transform them into practical solutions. This includes generating product CAD models, iterative prototypes, beta commercial units, and parts ready for production.
Establishing timelines, deliverables, product BOM budgets, and coordinating with the Company’s R&D Technical Lead, COO, and President.
Planning ahead and adjusting as technical challenges arrive.
Collaborating with the corporate and engineering teams to select new R&D projects. This includes idea initiation, technical viability / feasibility, identifying the market need, ability to scale, comparison to existing products / solutions, and the final selection of new R&D projects to put into the development and commercialization pipeline.
Occasionally, coordinating and collaborating with external development and commercialization partners in getting products ready for production.
Other Qualities / Abilities / Skills :
Understanding of electromechanical systems and making prototype electronic controls.
Bonus is experience working with ceramics, composites, and other advanced materials.
Ideally 5 to 10 years of experience working in the field(s) of R&D and advanced manufacturing.
