What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Embedded Software Engineer position at Oxenham Group?

Our aerospace and defense client in Goleta, CA is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their team. Their operations provide critical systems and components for modern military vehicles.

Qualifications :

  • Strong proficiency in Embedded C or Embedded C
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and embedded Linux.
  • Familiarity with communication protocol drivers and stacks (e.g., networking, 1553, UART, SPI, I2C).
  • Ability to read and understand electronic part datasheets, electrical schematics, and communication protocol documentation.
  • Experience in Unix internals, low-level driver software, and GUI software is beneficial.
  • Willingness to travel 10-15%.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Responsibilities :

  • Design, code, debug, and integrate new capabilities for turreted weapons systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing systems.
  • Integrate new functionalities both in lab settings and field operations.
  • Ensure executable software meets performance and contractual requirements.
  • Provide necessary documentation and regular status reports to management.

    • Additional Preferred Skills :

  • Experience with vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Coverity, HP Fortify, Veracode, Black Duck).
  • Awareness of cybersecurity trends and techniques.
  • Experience with network security and monitoring tools.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CSSLP, CISSP, GICSP, CEH, CISM) are a plus.
