Duties

-Ensure the classroom is a safe space for children to explore, play, and learn.

-Monitor the children at all times to prevent accidents or injuries.

-Set up and organize age-appropriate learning materials and toys.

-Plan and execute daily activities that encourage social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

-Use play-based learning to promote creativity, problem-solving, and language skills.

-Facilitate group activities such as songs, stories, and games that teach basic concepts (colors, numbers, shapes).

-Encourage positive social interactions and help children learn to share, take turns, and resolve conflicts.

-Provide emotional support and help children manage feelings (e.g., comfort children who are upset).

-Foster independence by encouraging children to do simple tasks on their own, like washing hands or putting on jackets.

-Observe children to track developmental milestones (language skills, motor skills, etc.).

-Engage children in conversations to build vocabulary and encourage listening skills.

-Read aloud to children regularly to support early literacy.

-Ask open-ended questions to promote thinking and language use.

-Encourage children to take responsibility for their belongings, such as putting away toys or cleaning up after activities.

-Establish consistent daily routines that provide structure and security for children.

-Manage transitions between activities (e.g., moving from playtime to snack time) in a calm and efficient manner.

-Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development sessions.

-Address any concerns or questions from parents about their child’s well-being.


Requirements

-High School Diploma

-15 hour SC Health and Safety Training (onsite training available)

-Ability to meet all licensing requirements including- criminal background check, DSS

history check, medical assessment, TB test, etc.

-Proven experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.


Nice To Haves

- At least 6 months experience in a licensed center

-ECD 101 or degree preferred, or willing to obtain

- Familiarity with toddler care practices and preschool curriculum development is preferred.

- Strong background in behavior management techniques to support students effectively.

- Experience in promoting literacy education and physical education among young learners is highly desirable.

- Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
