Supervises the work of subordinate water plant personnel and is responsible for raw water production, the quality of potable water produced by the Utility, and operation and integration of a membrane softening facility in conjunction with the treatment plant.Associate’s degree in management or equivalent, Ohio EPA Water Treatment Class III certificate, possession of a valid state driver’s license; 5 years of related, responsible experience, including water softening; or any combination of education, training, and work experience which provides the required skill sets to perform the essential functions of the job.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Analyzes and interprets various plant reports and charts.Secures, justifies, and monitors use of budgetary monies and Capital Improvement Funds.Plans, allocates, and monitors time, people, equipment, and other resources to ensure efficient organization and completion of work.Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with policies, procedures and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring and training, planning, assigning and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, ensuring staff licensures, addressing complaints and resolving problems.Plans and implements short-term or annual goals, objectives, and strategies for the department, project, or program to ensure efficient organization and completion of work.Manages revenue of water and sewer funds through meter maintenance and replacement programs.Manages the purchasing and inventory control of parts, equipment and supplies for unit.Make presentations to groups as necessary on topics related to water quality.Prepares and maintains various reports including those required by OEPA standards.Resolves long-term and or chronic problems related to utility billing, energy efficiency and water quality.Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Work is typically performed in a normal office environment, however, some of the incumbent’s time is spent outdoors. Employee is exposed to chemical hazards and wet conditions, and is expected to be available 24 hours/day to respond to emergencies and plant alarms.Employee is regularly required to walk, sit, see, speak, hear and lift/move up to 50 pounds.
