Oxford Financial Group, Ltd. is hiring a Chief Wealth Planning Officer that may be located in one of the following office locations : Indianapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, or Minneapolis.
The Chief Wealth Planning Officer (CWPO) will provide strategic leadership, oversee daily operations, and ensure the overall success of the Family Office Services (FOS) Technical team. As a player-coach, the CWPO will not only lead and mentor the team but also actively engage in complex, sophisticated estate and wealth planning client work, serving as the lead member of the FOS Team for a select number of client families. This role involves acting as the technical resource for the firm, participating in senior-level committees, supporting business development initiatives, managing risk, driving profitability, and overseeing internal training and external authorship efforts.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide overall leadership to the FOS Technical Team and direct management for various senior associates within each team
- Hire, train, coach and evaluate associates providing leadership to the Director of FOS, Family Office Fellows and Manager of PFS
- Conduct 1 : 1 meeting and periodic team meetings
- Responsible for developing and monitoring the budget for assigned teams
- Mentor, lead and inspire by fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Collaborate with other teams regarding technical and procedural matters
Manage the strategic and day-to-day operations focused on profitability and P&L for the FOS business line
Work with the Board of Directors, CEO and Managing Partners in the formulation and executionManage client hours and profitability including client time budgetsResponsible for pricing FOS client engagements and management of overall P&L for this teamSupport the firm’s growth by developing and executing strategies to attract and retain ultra-high-net-worth clientsIdentify and address potential risks within the FOS operationsEnsure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies and industry standardsDrive profitability by optimizing service delivery, managing costs and ensuring that team activities align with the firm’s financial objectivesServe as an estate planning technical resource directly to clients / prospects and to the Managing Directors in preparing for client meeting
Work in conjunction with the Managing Director and internal client cell team on specific client deliverables, general technical matters and proactive strategies related to various client and internal associate needsServe as a trusted member to ultra-high-net-worth clients, offering expert guidance on wealth management, estate planning, tax optimization and philanthropic strategies.Build and nurture long-term client relationships, maintaining a deep understanding of their unique needs and objectives.Collaborate with the firm’s leadership team to identify and pursue new business opportunities.Produce and perform reviews of complex client estate and wealth planning deliverables
Review estate flowcharts, wealth projections and other complex deliverablesDevelop and review technical, complex and comprehensive plans focused on wealth transfer and estate planning ensuring that objectives / observations and information from Managing Directors, Client Service associates and other members of the broader client cell team are incorporated into the deliverable(s)Lead the technical review of templates for various estate planning reports, analysis and deliverablesParticipate in feedback / debrief meetings and take an active approach to continuous improvementLead the FOS efforts as internal and external technical resources for and to the firm
Provide support, clarity and answers to technical issues / questionsMeet and communicate regularly with outside advisors for technical estate planning discussions and review, with developed beneficial relationships with outside advisorsManage, by actively contributing and effectively delegating, the entire suite of FOS Thought Leadership to ensure accuracy, relevance and adherence to the highest standard of technical authorship in line with the Oxford brandResearch, write and publish high-quality articles on complex wealth transfer topics for professional journals, industry publications and online platforms
Review, develop and maintain FOS technical materials and educational pieces related to estate and wealth planning and / or lead in this effort through effective management and delegationLead and manage internal training programs, ensuring all team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their rolesProvide technical guidance to team members and other departments, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is consistently utilizedAttend and actively engage in various internal meetings, committees and working groups
Meetings include individual team meetings, Managing Director meetings, Partner meetings, Board of Director meetings, Senior Leadership Team meetings and Town Hall meetingsActively participate in senior-level committees, contributing to the firm’s overall strategy, governance and decision-making processesProvide insights and recommendations on emerging trends, risks and opportunities within the wealth management industryPerforms other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
College degree with a postgraduate degree such as a JD, L.L.M or MST and / or a professional designation such as CPA, CFP® and / or CPWA® and 15 years relevant experience in estate and tax planning and / or fiduciary and trust planning and administration, along with demonstrated leadership experienceMust possess extensive experience in strategic wealth planning for high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families. In-depth knowledge of current legislative and case law changes, as well as other technical developments in the estate planning area.Must have a strong ability to interpret and analyze estate planning documents, financial statements and tax returns with meticulous attention to detail.Must have proven excellence in both written and verbal communication, with a history of being a frequent author and presenter of complex estate planning strategies.Must have demonstrated success in leading and growing highly technical, specialized teams of professionals.Must have a proven history of managing P&L and increasing the profitability of specific areas within an RIA or similar wealth management organization.Must have an aptitude for project plan creation and execution.Must maintain a professional demeanor with the utmost respect for confidentiality.Must have computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.Must be the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.Must have the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Must have strong work ethic paired with a positive attitude.WORKING CONDITIONS
