What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Reading Teacher position at Oxford Preparatory Academy- Jacksonville, FL?

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide Reading instruction and guidance to elementary and middle school children. Ensure age appropriate reading activities are administered.

Employment dates are June 5 – Augudt 1, 2025. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour for lunch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implementing and coordinating quality programs, safe activities, and participant satisfaction.
  • Work collaboratively with Director and Jr Counselors to provide appropriate academic and enrichment to students.
  • Follow lesson plans for academic and enrichment programs.
  • Track student progress and growth through assessments.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Director on quality and effectiveness of program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Implement age appropriate reading instructions. Certified teacher preferred.
  • Must have minimum 1-year experience working with elementary and middle school children, preferably in a camp setting.
  • Experience in a leadership or instructional training or teaching position.
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services.
  • Must provide a current copy of CPR, First Aid certification prior to employment.

Skills/Background Expected but not required:

  • Experience in a summer camp environment
  • A certification, skill, or hobby in science, sports, performing arts, creative crafts etc.
  • Ability to plan and implement a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Work Location: In person
