What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Reading Teacher position at Oxford Preparatory Academy- Jacksonville, FL?
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide Reading instruction and guidance to elementary and middle school children. Ensure age appropriate reading activities are administered.
Employment dates are June 5 – Augudt 1, 2025. Hours of operation will be 8 a.m. 5:00 p.m. with 1 hour for lunch.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implementing and coordinating quality programs, safe activities, and participant satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively with Director and Jr Counselors to provide appropriate academic and enrichment to students.
- Follow lesson plans for academic and enrichment programs.
- Track student progress and growth through assessments.
- Maintain consistent communication with Director on quality and effectiveness of program.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Implement age appropriate reading instructions. Certified teacher preferred.
- Must have minimum 1-year experience working with elementary and middle school children, preferably in a camp setting.
- Experience in a leadership or instructional training or teaching position.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must pass background screening on a local, state and federal level as required by the State of Florida Children and Family Services.
- Must provide a current copy of CPR, First Aid certification prior to employment.
Skills/Background Expected but not required:
- Experience in a summer camp environment
- A certification, skill, or hobby in science, sports, performing arts, creative crafts etc.
- Ability to plan and implement a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
