Probabilistic Safety Analyst – Nuclear Reactor Design
Location: Onsite in Camden, NJ or Pittsburgh, PA
Our client is seeking a Probabilistic Safety Analyst (PSA) to join a cross-functional engineering team supporting the design and construction of a new small modular nuclear reactor (SMR-300). This role is onsite and can be based in either Camden, NJ or Pittsburgh, PA.
Essential Functions
- Perform probabilistic safety evaluations for internal and external events impacting the SMR-300 plant.
- Build and maintain event tree and fault tree models to assess plant safety metrics.
- Develop PSA methodologies and conduct system-level and plant-level risk quantification, uncertainty analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
- Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to recommend design and operational improvements based on PSA risk insights.
- Contribute to detailed technical documentation and safety analysis reports.
Requirements
- MS in Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 3 years of PSA modeling experience with strong analytical and communication skills.
Preferred experience:
- Background in commercial or naval nuclear reactor design or operation.
- Familiarity with PWR safety analysis.
- Hands-on experience with tools such as CAFTA, MELCOR, RELAP, RADTRAD, or GOTHIC.
- Knowledge in thermal-hydraulic analysis, component reliability, or human reliability analysis.
- Experience in risk quantification, cut set reviews, and PSA development for fire, seismic, flood, or other external hazards.
